MexicoKanTours 3 Cenotes & Jungle Trail Biking
Table of Contents
One of things we love to do when traveling to new destinations, is to take an eco-friendly bike tour. On our recent travels to Tulum in Mexico, we did just that with π MexicoKanTours.
My wife and I love to swim and snorkel, so their π΅ Cenote Trail Bike Tour looked perfect for us.
About MexicoKanTours
Established in 2007, MexicoKanTours has earned the distinct reputation as being one of the leaders in responsible tourism in this part of Mexico.
βOur core values of respect, conservation & education have led us to create lasting bonds with the many people & groups who share an interest in protecting the local environment and in the promotion of culture & conservation.β
Offering a host of single or multi-day tours and excursions, π MexicoKanTours is a great choice for private and/or small group tours based out of Tulum.
Our 3 Cenotes & Jungle Trail Biking Tour
If you are staying locally, they do offer π pick up service to their shop in town.
As we were staying a short ways away in Akumal, we hopped the local π Colectivo {local van transportation} just outside our hotel on the main highway.
We were dropped off right at their store for a start time of 07:45 am.
Once our group was gathered and bikes and equipment sorted, we were on π΅ our way to our first stop, the {Grand Cenote}, about a 30 minute ride from the store.
Grand Cenote
This is one of the most popular public cenotes in the area, known for its cave systems, underground river and open sections.
In the open part of the cenote, there are a number of friendly wild π’ turtles you can swim and π€Ώ snorkel with.
The reason for the early start is that our superb guideβs on this tour {Fernando & Auvelio} wanted to make sure we arrived there β early.
As this is a very popular cenote, it would give us a chance to enjoy the cenote before the crowds arrived.
Once we were checked in, π€Ώ snorkel equipment and life vest handed out, we hopped in the water with both our guides.
βThe group enjoyed a nice leisurely swim and snorkel with our guides showing the way with their waterproof flashlights, to truly experience the cenotes and caves underground.
After drying off and returning our equipment, it was time to get back on the π² bikes and pedal to our next stop, to enjoy a nice brunch.
The biking is about 4 kilometers in length to a peaceful jungle-like setting, where a freshly prepared homemade brunch was waiting for us.
This was a small hidden guesthouse located in a peaceful and quiet setting.
Our host prepared a superb brunch, offering amazing fresh made π₯ juice, β coffee and healthy gourmet π₯ sandwiches.
After brunch and enjoying the grounds surrounding the guesthouse, it was off to our next stop.
Cenote Cristal
After a hot and busy ride to this cenote, we were all ready for a nice refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters.
This is a much less busy open cenote surrounded by thick and beautiful vegetation.
Itβs a perfect spot for a swim and to have a little fun. They have a platform to dive and jump off of, and a rope swing to practice your loops and spins!
This cenote is also popular for scuba divers entering the surrounding cave system below.
Our guides gave us all the time we needed to enjoy the water and relax in the peaceful surroundings of this cenote.
Everyone in the group thoroughly enjoyed their time spent at this cenote and without any pressure from our guides whatsoever, in rushing to press on.
We could spend as much, or as little time at each destination as we all liked. 👍
Escondido
Once we were all satisfied and ready to move to our final destination, it was a short skip and jump over to Escondido.
This is also another nice and quiet open cenote in a lush peaceful setting.
Itβs a perfect place for swimming, rope jumping or tree jumping!
Itβs also a great location for π€Ώ snorkeling and scuba diving into the world of hidden caves located beneath the surface.
Just another excellent spot to enjoy nature and the beautiful freshwater of the amazing cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula.

This bike and cenote tour includes:
β Professional guides;
β Quality Mountain Bike & Helmet;
β All entrance fees;

β
This tour is specifically designed for those who wish to spend time visiting and π swimming in the region’s beautiful cenotes.
It should be noted that this specific tour isn’t really a scenic π² bike tour if that is what you’re after. It is however, a fun and eco-friendly way of getting to the 3 beautiful cenotes.
If you enjoy π΄ bike riding and being outside in the open, rather than getting from place to place inside a stuffy π vehicle, this tour is a good option.
We had an enjoyable day with our guides and with the others in our group. The cenotes were superb, along with the excellent brunch that is included in this bike tour.
Below, Iβve included a link to π MexicoKanTours, where you can access much more detailed information on all the tours they offer.
As well, their shop offers eco-friendly products and accessories with less impact on the environment. From water bottles, t-shirts, sun products and more, youβll find what you need with their environmentally friendly items in their store.
π Safe and Healthy Travels!
