๐ซ Camel Spit & Cork Trees ๐ซ
The title ๐ช Camel Spit & Cork Trees immediately caught my attention, and just had to have a look further into its description.
I was delighted to have the opportunity to read and to offer a personal review of this travel book.
About The Author Of Camel Spit & Cork Trees
Originally from the Isle of Bute in Scotland, Jack Montgomery is a travel ๐ธ writer and photographer.
Together with his wife, they were based in Portugal at the time of this publication.
As well as writing for others, he runs the ๐ award-winning travel website; Buzztrips. This website has a strong focus on ๐ฅพ hiking and ๐ dining, both on and off the beaten track.
Specializing in Slow Travel, part of Jack’s work involves acting as a freelance consultant.
Together with his wife/author, they focus on ๐ถ walking/cultural holidays, writing {customized travel guides} for little-known locations around Europe.
Destinations including; Greece, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Austria, France and Slovenia.
This aspect of his job took him from Portugal’s northern hills to its southern beaches, and from its western coastline to its eastern border with Spain.
The colorful experiences notched up along the way, inspired him to document their journey in;
Camel Spit & Cork Trees: A Year of Slow Travel Through Portugal.
A travelogue about life in another country, that paints a vivid picture of areas of Portugal, which still lie below the radar of most visitors.
Today, both Jack & wife Andrea, have become highly regarded; book & guidebook publishers, with a focus on {Slow Travel} to โOff The Beaten Trackโ locations in Europe.
Experience Slow Travel Off The Beaten Track
Over the past few years, my wife and I have become more and more aware of overcrowding, especially at the many more popular tourist destinations around the world.
We experienced tremendous overcrowding on our recent travels to; Thailand and the Philippines.
We have now begun searching and looking to ๐ฆ โStep Out Of The Box,โ ๐ฆ and visit less popular, yet still quite desirable destinations to travel to.
Jack and Andrea focus on {Slow Travel Vacations}, that certainly fit this criteria!
We love eco-friendly adventure travel which includes; biking, hiking, snorkeling & diving adventures and much more.
We now do our utmost, to escape the typical over tourist saturated locations, and the massive crowds that come with popular destinations.
Camel Spit & Cork Trees – Portugal
After spending 14 years living in the Canary Islands, Jack and Andrea decided to broaden their horizons and move back to the mainland. They have now made their home base in Portugal.
This was country we visited briefly a few years ago, while on our Western Mediterranean ๐ณ Cruise, and loved it!
The small taste of Portugal we briefly visited, was beautiful. We do hope to return in the very near future, to spend much more time exploring many parts of the country.
This is where ๐ซ Camel Spit & Cork Trees will take you. Tag along with Jack and Andrea as they venture on {Slow Travel}, to many out of the way; towns and villages scattered throughout the country.
Experience their adventures and misadventures along the way, with a great deal of English humor thrown into the mix!
For foodie lovers, I donโt recommend reading this book on an empty stomach!
Jack has a knack for wetting your appetite and explaining in great detail, the local dishes they experience, at the many eateries they visit on their slow travels throughout the country.
The book offers their own personal reviews and recommendations or not, of the many establishments they visit along the way.
Camel Spit & Cork Trees – Slow Travel
Jack’s book will have you thinking about just what kind of traveler you really are.
It will question whether you are a …
๐ตย Tourist Or A Traveler ๐ต
Take the test and find out for yourself!
For those of you that do enjoy more relaxing slow eco-friendly adventure type travel, visiting out of the ordinary destinations, sampling the local cuisine, then this book is a must read.
It’s also a great inspiration for travel to Portugal.
I thoroughly enjoyed Camel Spit & Cork Trees and look forward to reading about their new adventures, still yet to come!
