I came across this interesting 🎨 Are You A Tourist Or Traveler Infographic comparison chart, that I thought was worth passing on to you. It really made me think about just what kind of traveler am I really?
Have you ever taken a moment to think about what you like about traveling, and just what type of traveler you really are?❓
I know that as the years go by and I get older, I am certainly not as ⛷ adventurous as I used to be. I think for most of us, this is only normal.
These days, we certainly enjoy the comforts of ✈ travel so much more than the way we used to travel many years ago. When we were younger, we were also traveling on a very tight 💰 budget!
We still like to venture out into the unknown and explore new exciting destinations around the world. 🧭 To experience the local culture and cuisine of the people and countries we visit.

Are you the type of person that prefers a more safe type of travel? Perhaps the safety of group 🚌 bus tours, 🛳 cruise ship vacations, 🏨 all inclusive resort vacations and such.
Or, are you the type that likes to venture off to new places, in search of the unknown? 🏝
Are you an 👀 observer, or do you actually get in there and experience the local culture in the country you are visiting?
We now enjoy doing both types of travel. It all depends on where we’re traveling to, and what type of vacation we’re taking.
I always admired and enjoyed watching world renowned chef and traveler – Anthony Bourdain.
I think that man had the greatest job in the world, traveling to exotic locations around the world, meeting the locals and feasting on their traditional cuisine.
How great is that! 🙂

I think this is the one thing that truly annoys me with people who travel abroad. Why is it that they continue to complain and always compare to what they would expect to receive at home?
You are and have chosen to visit a foreign country, and should expect to receive what is normal for their custom and culture. Enjoy and experience the local culture and customs in the country you have traveled to.
After all, isn’t that why we travel in the first place?

For me, it can work both ways. On certain vacations, I love just vegging on a beautiful 🏖 tropical beach, soaking up the 🌞 sun and melting my troubles of daily life away!
Other holidays, I want to get out there and explore!
I want to seek out new and exciting sites and attractions, actually immerse myself in the local culture!
Souvenir Or Treasure

Are you the type of person that will visit a country, enter a typical tourist trap gift shop and purchase that souvenir trinket?
Or do you take the time to search for that authentic and unique 🪔 keepsake? Something that is made in the actual country you are visiting?
How many times for example, have you entered a gift shop in Mexico, looked at the back of the trinket to only find that it was mass produced in China?

Be Respectful Of The People & Culture

Always, always, always respect the people and culture of those whose country you are visiting. Remember, are a visitor in their home Country, and should act accordingly.
Be patient and enjoy the experience!
If you catch yourself getting anxious, upset or losing your patience, take a moment to breath. Relax and just think about why you traveled to this location in the first place! 🙂
Be Yourself – Share Your Experiences

At the same time, be proud of who you are and where you come from. Share your home experiences and culture with others.
People are interested in your cultural traditions, and want to hear all about your native land as well!
