of this amazing; World Heritage Site in New Delhi. This is a magnificent historical site located right in the heart of the City of New Delhi, India.
Historic Red Fort Images – A World Heritage Site
The π Red Fort is situated at the edge of the Yamuna River in Delhi, also known as; Old Delhi. The Red Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Delhi, India. This is without a doubt, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city.
This Historic Fort dates as far back as 1638, when it was constructed as the official residence and palace of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It remained as an official palace for two hundred years!
Built of red sandstone, its massive walls surround the Fort for two kilometers reaching 33 meters in height in certain areas. A very impressive site to see as you πΆ walk towards the main entrance of the Fort.
During its period as a reigning Fort and Palace, there was once a huge ten meter deep moat surrounding the walls of the of this massive structure at that time.
After making your way through the main gate, you will discover a number of outbuildings inside the walls.
These include;
β The Drum House;
β Hall of Public Audiences;
β The White Marble Hall of Private Audiences;
β The Pearl Mosque;
β Royal Baths;
β Palace of Color.

The red sandstone together with the incredible architecture and size of the buildings, make this historic site absolutely beautiful.Β The craftsmanship is remarkable and truly unique!
As you stroll among the buildings inside and out, you can feel yourself step back in time and imagine how life was inside these walls hundreds of years ago.

Getting around is easy and affordable, either by way of πΊ tuk-tuk taxi or regular air conditioned auto taxi.
