Phoenix International Raceway has a new look for 🏁 NASCAR Racing and more. It’s a beautiful redesigned facility with a amazing new look and returning to their original name …
If you haven’t experienced the thrill and excitement of a live NASCAR Race event, then have a look at what you’re missing!
There’s a variety of race events throughout the year, with 🏕 camping available – right at the race track. First, check out my short 📹 video clip of 43 cars roaring by at the start of a typical; 🏁 Premier NASCAR Race. 🏁
Be sure to turn your 📢 speakers up!

Phoenix Raceway – Premier NASCAR Racing Events
We’ve attended the 🍂 Fall race events for many years now, and always enjoy traveling to this part of 🌵 Arizona from our home back in 🍁 Canada.
The race track is located just outside the City of Phoenix. It’s about a 30 minute drive west from the city limits, in the community of Avondale, Arizona.
It’s situated in a beautiful country like setting, next to rolling hills and 🏜 huge saguaro cactus plants.
Phoenix Raceway holds 🏁 2 Premier NASCAR Race Weekend events each year. One event is usually held in early March and the track is now proud to host the annual; 🏆 Championship Weekend Races, 🏆 held in early November.
There are a number of races to see during the weekend, along with excellent track side displays.
As well, pre and post race entertainment at the track for you to enjoy into the late evening.

Meet Your Favorite Driver At The Races In Phoenix
Along with the many planned activities in and around the track, drivers always make themselves available for meet and greet sessions.
I managed to get a quick 📸 photo of former NASCAR Cup Series Driver – Casey Khane, during an 📝 autograph session a few years back.
Phoenix Raceway Camping – At The Track
One of the many things that make Phoenix Raceway so special is 🏕 camping out, right at the racetrack.
Surrounded by beautiful 🌵 cactus set along the hillside in a country setting, camping just adds to the race weekend excitement.
We enjoyed camping out for a number of seasons, traveling down to the races in our 🚌 RV. You’re just outside the city limits, yet far enough to feel like you have escaped into the country!
It doesn’t get any better, camping out and enjoying the spectacular race events Phoenix Raceway is known to host, year after year!
You have your choice of; Reserved and Unreserved Recreational Vehicle camping sites.
Choose from a number of reserved sites located right inside the track property, to more rustic camping on federal grounds, just on the outside. A great option that is sure to suit most anyone’s desires and budget!
Be sure to check out my detailed post and 📸 photos here on …
for more information. Literally thousands come to camp for the races each year, as you can see in the photo above.
A Beautiful Day At Phoenix Raceway
Another amazing day under the 🌞 Arizona sun as we make our way to the track after a small hike on the hillside surrounded by beautiful cactus!
Race Day Festivities At Phoenix Raceway
The 🍺 Budweiser Clydesdales 🐎 were on hand at this event, taking part in the pre-race ceremonies.
2020 NASCAR Cup Champion Chase Elliott
As 🍁 Canadians, we were so disappointed to not be able to attend the races last season. It is a special weekend event, that we look forward to traveling to every season.
There’s always something new and exciting at the races each and every year!
Above photo above taken years ago, showing the original front stretch.
Green Flag as 43 cars are set to face off against each other, taking the green flag for another round of exciting race action. As you saw in my short video clip, watching these cars roar past you live and not on 📺 television, is incredible!
A part of racing excitement is certainly seeing the beating and banging during the race and the crashes. They’re great to see and add to the excitement, as long as no one gets hurt! 👍
Racing Under The Lights At Phoenix Raceway
The other thing I enjoy so much about this racetrack is the night racing.
For years attending the races at Phoenix Raceway, one of my favorite races held during the weekend, is watching the; 🛻 Truck Series 🛻 evening race, held on Friday night.
These guys and gals put on a great race each and every year, showing casing their talent and looking to step up into the premier; Xfinity and/or Cup Series.
The entire track is lit up at night making for some spectacular racing!

Xfinity Premier Series Racing Years Ago At PIR
Along with the 🛻 Truck Racing on the weekend, there’s also the ARCA series race, usually held under the lights as well.
The big guns hit the track, starting on Saturday afternoon, for the – Xfinity NASCAR Series Championship Race .
Friday and Saturday offer 3 outstanding races not to be missed, and a superb prelude to Sunday’s – Premier NASCAR Event!
The excitement never ends during this 🏁 full weekend race schedule!
NASCAR CUP SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP RACE – SUNDAY
2021 NASCAR Cup Champion Kyle Larson
The {Big Day} of course, is on Sunday, where thousands come from all over to witness the final race of the season and who will crowned the year’s; 🏆 NASCAR Cup Series Champion. 🏆
With a seating capacity of around 51,000, not including those on the; hillside, infield and alongside the tracks recreational vehicle parking area, this is one event not to miss!
From the drop of the green flag, exciting pit road action to mishaps on the track, you’re sure to feel the thrill of attending a live NASCAR race event at Phoenix Raceway. Tickets sell out quickly and have so, for many years now. I’ve been attending this race weekend since 1995 and have never not seen a sold out event.
So if you are planning on attending, then get your tickets early!

Update November 2019
My brother and I were thrilled to see all the changes to this facility on our return visit in 2019. The new race track and stands are amazing!

The new grandstands are excellent, with individual seating with backs for comfort. Complete with a 🥤 cup holder! 😎
All 4 races held during this weekend event in 2019, were excellent as usual. It was great to see Cup Series driver {Denny Hamlin} win Sunday’s event; The Bluegreen Vacations 500.
We returned once again in 2021, after missing the 2020 season due to the global pandemic. We had a great weekend once again, with 4 outstanding races!
