I am so fortunate to have been raised on 🌲 Vancouver Island in British Columbia, 🍁 Canada and be surrounded by its natural beauty, along with the many spectacular places to discover on the Island.
One of our favorite places to head to for camping, hiking and for spectacular scenery, is known as – 🏞 Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park.
If you’re in search of a beautiful nature walk, set among stunning scenery when traveling mid- island, then this park is absolutely perfect!
It’s situated within minutes from the {City of Parksville} and also on route to world famous 🏄 Tofino and Long Beach, located on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island.
The park is open all year long and each season, offering something uniquely different.
Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park – Location
Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park is located just 19 km west of the City of Parksville off of Highway 4. This stretch of highway is also referred to as the – Alberni Highway.
The city of Port Alberni is west of Qualicum Falls, about 30 kilometers away.
As well, the spectacular 🌳 Cathedral Grove located in 🌲 MacMillan Provincial Park is also enroute to Port Alberni and definitely is not to be missed!
Here you can stroll among tall timbers that date back more than 800 years!
Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park – The Spectacular Waterfalls
Of course, the main attraction for visitors are the spectacular – 🌊 Upper and 🌊 Lower Qualicum Falls.
Just steps from the parking lot, you can view these beautiful 🌊 Falls with very little walking involved, making it accessible for those who may have some difficulty.
As well, it’s a perfect place to stop and enjoy a picnic lunch, as there are numerous picnic tables in the park for you to enjoy.
The Falls are absolutely beautiful and if you’re lucky enough to visit during the Spring melt or after a heavy rain, they’re even more spectacular!
Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park – Hiking
For those of you who want to enjoy a leisurely easy hike when visiting, there are 6 full kilometers of nature walk trails that run along the {Little Qualicum River} and other areas of the park.
These 🥾 hiking trails will take you through some huge old growth forest areas and newer ones as well.
For those looking for an easier hike if you don’t have the time, there’s also a lovely 3 kilometer loop trail that runs alongside the river.
Complete with rest stop benches along the way, that will lead you to the upper and lower falls as well, for excellent viewing!
A great hike for those with 🐶 pets, but don’t forget your dog leash! Pets must be leashed at all times when in the 🏞 Provincial Park.
Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park – Camping
An added bonus to the area and especially great for campers, is that 🏕 Qualicum Falls Provincial Park is located right at the Falls.
There are a total of 96 campsites available and as one might expect, they fill up early!
This especially so, during the peak season which runs from {June to September}. I highly recommend making advance reservations with 🏞 BC Parks!
Below, I’ve included 🏞 BC Parks Official Website link below for your convenience, where you can access much more detailed information and online reservations as well.
