Trail Rides With Silver Crest Farms On The Big Island of Hawaii
Table of Contents
One of things we always really enjoy when traveling to new destinations, is getting out of the tourist zones and exploring natural beauty of the new location we have traveled to. A great way to experience this is by taking an eco-friendly 🐎 horseback trail ride. We did just that on our recent visit to the 🏝 Big Island of Hawaii, with …
A wonderful peaceful ride it was, off the beaten path among the lush vegetation this part of the island has to offer.
“We offer daily tours through the Kapoho Jungle on beautiful well kept horses.”
Silver Crest Farms – Located in Kapoho
This lovely country farm is located on the Hilo side of the island in the community of Kapoho. Away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the island, Kapoho is in a more remote and much more peaceful region, one that simply must be seen when visiting for the first time.
If you’re not vacationing on this side of the island, then do plan to spend an entire day or even two, to enjoy the many attractions it has to offer.
These include visiting;
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park … Kapoho Tide Pools … The Geothermal Hot Pond … Farmers Markets … Historic Hilo Town and of course, Horseback Riding!
Silver Crest Farms – Family Fun and Adventure
Who doesn’t like a pleasant horseback ride on a well trained horse accompanied by professional riders and guides?
It’s a great way to spend some quality time outdoors together and experience something unique and fun for all.
There’s a lot more to see and do on the Big Island of Hawaii then just its beautiful beaches!
Silver Crest Farms – Guides and Horses
Whether you’re brand new or an experienced rider, rest assured your guides will select one of their beautiful horses on the farm ,that’s just perfect for you and your riding ability.
Their experienced riders and guides will do their utmost to ensure your safety at all times along the way.
My wife and I were very impressed with the professionalism and attention to safety from our two outstanding guides ( Angi & Kalani ) during the entire ride.
Silver Crest Farms – Jungle Ride Experience
Presently, there are three 1 ½ hour jungle rides scheduled each day for you to choose from. This is an easy ride on a very quiet stretch of dirt roadway, that takes you along the incredibly lush vegetation that exists on this part of the island.
It’s a lovely tropical jungle type atmosphere, that’s peaceful and relaxing. What a perfect opportunity to get away from the stress of daily life and enjoy the surrounding beauty this area has to offer.
“You will meander through the jungle, smelling the sweet aromas of tropical flowers and ripening fruit, spotting colorful birds and wildlife along the way.”
Our two guides were very knowledgeable about the history of the area we were riding through. Kalani simply amazed us at her knowledge of the local vegetation and the variety of trees she pointed out to us along the ride.
\These experienced riders and guides at Silver Crest Farms will tailor the ride to your specific level of experience and/or preference. If you wish to just relax and have the horses walk at a slow pace, as we did, do to my reduced riding ability – that’s just fine!
Or, you can request to move along at a faster pace if you wish to do so.\
It’s your experience and they want you to enjoy each and every minute of your ride. They do have certain restrictions for obvious reasons, that you should be aware of before booking your ride. I’ve listed them below for your convenience.
Restrictions:
Ages 10 and up;
Weight limit 230 pounds maximum;
Participants should be in good general health;
Not recommended for elderly, disabled, or pregnant women;
All participants must sign a waiver;
Suggested attire is long pants & covered shoes;
All medical/physical restrictions must be declared at time of reservation.
Silver Crest Farms – Kapoho Hawaii
Although the farm is located in the quiet Kapoho region of the Big Island, there’s tons of things to see and do in the near vicinity. The main attraction for visitors of course, is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Just a few minutes up the road from Silver Crest Farms is the town of; Pahoa. Once a thriving plantation town in the early 1900’s, many of the original buildings still exist in this now small, culturally diverse community.
A great place to stop and explore the shops and enjoy outstanding homemade sandwiches and pastries, like at the open air;Tin Shack Bakery, a local favorite! 🙂
So if your travel plans have you visiting the Big Island of Hawaii, then do yourself a favor, step out of the box and explore the island. Take an enjoyable trail ride with Silver Crest Farms. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
For more detailed information, including online booking and more, I’ve listed their official website below for your convenience.
As well, I’ve included an excellent Hilo Hawaii Tourism Website detailing much more of what this side of the island has to offer.
Aloha!
