Unfortunately I caught a nasty chest cold, probably in the ✈ airplane during the flight down to 🏜 Mexico. I was hoping for a 2 tank dive, but could only manage one this day because of chest congestion. 🤨
Our destination was to a popular spot for both divers and snorkeler’s called – 🌅 Playa Manzanillo.

This is a very popular shallow reef dive and within very close proximity of the ⚓ Zihuatanejo Pier.

After boarding our 🛥 boat at the Zihua Pier, we made our way along the picturesque shoreline heading towards Playa Manzanillo Reef.
This is also a very well-known stretch of beach among locals living in the area, and not frequented by visitors as much as the other local 🏖 beaches.

It was another beautiful sunny day, with calm seas and extremely warm ocean temperatures, hovering at approximately 26 degrees Celsius or an amazing 79 degrees Fahrenheit.
I actually started the dive with a wetsuit on and after a few minutes in the shallow water, I had to return to the boat to take it off!
Coming from 🍁 Canada and used to diving in the frigid waters of the North Pacific, what a treat this was!

I was accompanied by two staff members, both experienced divers along with our boats captain who did a great job getting us to and from shore safely.
As this was a popular location for 🤿 snorkeling, my wife was able to come along and enjoy the water as well. She does not scuba dive, but does enjoy snorkeling in the warm tropical waters.
A perfect day for both of us!

My guides pointed out a variety of sea life during the dive, including a curious eagle ray, large moray eel and a rock fish.

The dive shop offers a variety of dive locations for you, that tailor to your level of experience and weather conditions, which can vary and change quite quickly in this area.
They will put together dive packages to suit you best!
They also offer a number of instruction courses for those wanting to try scuba diving and/or become PADI Certified. As well, the shop offers snorkel excursions to favorite reef destinations in the area, for non scuba divers.
