is a must for outdoor enthusiasts.
For those traveling to the beautiful City of 🌴 Palm Springs and area, Joshua Tree is an easy one hour drive to its main – Visitor Center.
The 🏜 Mojave and Lower Colorado Deserts join to form the enormous – Joshua Tree National Park, covering a staggering 790,636 acres.
Joshua Tree National Park – Amazing Scenic Vistas
For those just wishing to visit the park for the day or just a few hours, the park’s main paved roads offer a number of pullouts and vista parking areas for you to enjoy.
Start your tour at the 🏞 Visitor Center, pick up some guided 🗺 maps and you’re on your way!
During our last visit to this part of California, that’s exactly what we did.
Along the scenic route, there are 🚶 12 self-guided nature trails manageable for most everyone.
On a beautiful clear day from the Keys Viewpoint, the view of the Valley is spectacular and extends even past the Salton Sea into – Mexico.
We had a beautiful day on our visit and in the 📸 photo below, you can easily see the Salton Sea in the distance. 🙂
Enjoy Hiking For All Experience Levels In Joshua Tree National Park
There are number of easy 🥾 hiking trails for you to get out, stretch your legs and enjoy the beautiful scenery this 🏞 National Park has to offer!
The desert landscape, massive boulder forms, together with the park’s renowned Joshua Trees for which it is named after, are simply stunning and must not be missed when traveling to this part of the United States.
For those coming for just a few hours or the entire day, I highly recommend what we did on our visit.
Start at the lower portion of the Park, entering off 🛣 Interstate Highway 10 at the Cottonwood Visitor Center Entrance.
Grab your 🎫 park pass and 🗺 maps, and your on your way!
Make your way north on the scenic paved road, stopping at one of the many pull-outs and vistas along the way.
Here you can enjoy the views, take short hikes, have a picnic lunch and soak in the beauty nature has to offer.
You will eventually make your way to the north entrances of the park, where you can exit via the – Oasis Visitor Center in the City of Twentynine Palms, or further west at the Joshua Tree Visitor Center.
Plan A Visit To Historic Keys Ranch In Joshua Tree
Be sure to arrange a tour if you can to the historic 🐎 Keys Ranch which is located inside the Park.
This is the old homestead owned by William F. Keys. A true Pioneer, Keys along with his wife and five children made Joshua Tree their home.

From fruit orchards, to mining and much more, today many of the buildings remain where you can take a step back in time and enjoy a guided tour of the property with a park ranger.
Visiting The Park With Pets
There are strict rules in place for those wishing to visit the park with their pets. In a nutshell, anywhere you can drive your vehicle, 🐕 pets are permitted to walk on these roads while on leash.
🐕 Pets are also permitted in picnic areas and campgrounds, with strict rules in place. Your four legged friend is also allowed on the paved Oasis of Mara trail.
You can gather more detailed information at the Visitor Centers regarding pet restrictions, and the reasons why these restrictions must be in place in this 🏞 National Park.
From back country hiking, camping, rock climbing, mountain biking and much more, Joshua Tree National Park is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream!
