The Ship and Shore Restaurant & Campground in Deep Bay BC
If you’re like me and always enjoy stepping out of the box and discovering new places off the beaten track, then you’re going to love The Ship and Shore Restaurant & Campground located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada!
Ship and Shore Restaurant – Pub Style Comfort Food
This establishment is ideally located on Vancouver Island between the cities of Qualicum Beach and Courtenay BC off the Old Island Highway. They’re located almost in the middle of the two cities on the shores of Deep Bay, about a 30 to 35 minutes drive from either direction.
The business has been around since the 1970’s, but your new very welcoming owners Melanie and Bruce, have completely renovated the premise, giving it a relaxed, welcome home feeling the moment you walk through the doors!
“The Ship & Shore offers our recently renovated restaurant/lounge with comfort food and ice cold beverages from a local island own brewery.”
The two have done a wonderful job of renovating the restaurant, offering a comfy, cozy atmosphere for all. It’s a comfortable sit down pub style restaurant with television’s all around highlighting your favorite sports event, but family friendly at the same time for everyone to enjoy!
Ship and Shore Restaurant – The View
Situated on the shores of Deep Bay and neighboring Marina, the view is simply spectacular! In the summer, come and enjoy their outdoor patio overlooking the Bay, while you enjoy your your favorite beverage and / or meal.
It doesn’t get any better than this!
Ship and Shore Restaurant – Freshly Prepared Dining Options
I’m always excited about discovering these out of the way “hidden gem” businesses no matter where we travel to in the world. You don’t have to look too far to find these great Foodie establishments. For starters, just ask a local and they’ll tell you!
The Ship and Shore friendly chefs offer freshly prepared home cooked meals every day, with some surprising daily specials as well to choose from.
From mouth watering burger and fries, homemade soups, salads to their very own signature fish and chips, there’s bound to be something on their menu to suit most everyone.
Below, check out a sample of what my wife and I enjoyed on our recent visit for dinner! 🙂
Ice Cold Island’s Own Craft Beer
Come in and sample some of Vancouver Island’s Best Craft Beer! It’s served ice cold and goes perfect with some of Ship and Shores great appetizers! Choose from the endless selections on their full page appi menu including; their amazing homemade Seafood Chowder, Chicken Wings, Salads to Nachos.
Homemade Seafood Chowder
Signature Fish and Chips
Melanie and Bruce have chosen to keep the original restaurant recipe for their fish and chips dinners, and for very good reason. My wife selected the 2 piece cod dinner and the serving was absolutely huge! The cod was fresh and the deep fried batter was light, very tasty and not greasy at all.
A great selection and perfect with a cold brew!
As a lover of homemade burgers and blue cheese, I simply couldn’t resist their very popular Bison Burger! Served with blue cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and a pickle. This burger was delicious and loaded, served with your choice of fries, soup or salad.
There’s always new dishes and daily specials surfacing for you to enjoy. Below is just one example of what your chef’s may prepare as a special of the day!
What Happened to Summer Burger Special!
Loaded Burger with BBQ Sauce & Onion Rings
Havarti and Cheddar
Sauteed Onions and Mushrooms
Lettuce & Pickle
You better come in hungry and ready to eat for this one and don’t tell your doctor what you’re having for dinner! This special was also complemented with an ice cold 14 oz beer.
This burger is going to be a big hit, especially in the summer time with an ice cold beer!
If you have room left over or just want to enjoy a cup of coffee and dessert, there’s two excellent regular menu choices to choose from. Oh, and did I mention the fabulous view as well for you to enjoy with dessert? 🙂
Brownie a la Mode … Berry Crumble
My wife and I sampled the huge portion of their fresh Berry Crumble, served with your choice of ice cream or whipping cream. It was superb and definitely worth trying when stopping by!
The meal was fabulous, the atmosphere was perfect and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. This is definitely one of Vancouver Island’s hidden gems and we’re so glad we discovered this business, and can’t wait to return with our family and friends.
The owner’s and chefs of Ship and Shore are pleased to offer the majority of their menu served as Gluten Free upon request. So those needing a gluten free diet and vegetarians alike, there’s something here for you as well. 🙂
Below, I have included Ship and Shores official website for your convenience, where you can access much more detailed information including an online menu.
There’s also a small water front campground here as well, offering power, water and an onsite sani-dump. Also, Ship and Shore has its own boat launch and marine fuel station as part of the business.
