Famous Copacabana Beach
Beautiful Copacabana Beach
One of the most characteristic aspects of the Brazilian culture of life are the beaches that are spread in almost all the coastal areas. Spending a day on one of the beautiful beaches of Rio is the best way to have fun for free in a public place. Choose from the many beaches in Rio to enjoy during the day as part of your holiday in the sun. The sun is hot in Rio, so your stay at the beach should be planned for early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
The most famous beach in Brazil and certainly one of the most famous in the world is Copacabana. Located on the east coast of Brazil , one can enjoy the beach and fantastic weather throughout the year. One of the main reasons why Copacabana enjoys over one million tourists each year. The beach seems endless, with its 4 kilometer length, starting from the rescue tower Posto Dois to the rescue tower in Posto Seis.
The famous Copacabana Promenade is a paved black and white path designed by Roberto Burle Marx whose construction was completed in the 1970.
On both ends of the beach you will find Old Forts of the past and today are major tourist attractions.
Copacabana Promenade and Old Forts
Fort Copacabana is located on the south end of the beach and was built in 1914. Posto Seis and Forte Duque de Caxias on the northern end and were built in 1779. All along the Copacabana Promenade is where to find luxurious hotels, restaurants, bars and night clubs. This is an extremely popular and well known area attracting tourists from all over the world!
Apart from Copacabana, there are two other smaller beaches, one at Fort Copacabana and another right after called the Diabo beach. There is also the Arpoador beach which is a little piece of paradise attracting surfers and other water enthusiasts. This area will be one of the four major Olympic Zones during the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Copacabana beach is also famous for frequently hosting the official FIFA World Cup Soccer on sand.
As one of the most frequented tourist destinations in the world, Copacabana may have lost a part of its charm and the mystique that it once had, but nevertheless, the beautiful marine landscape that mixes with the city makes this a perfect holiday destination!
Apart from offering its beautiful sights and attractions, Copacabana also represents a unique culture and way of life that continues to attract tourists again and again.
